One Dream Jamaican Cafe and Lounge was a vision that began in 2022 with Marlon Cotterell and Nicola Sherriffe, his fiancé, both were born in Jamaica. The concept was to have a family run restaurant , along with close friends assisting in the everyday functioning, bringing the vibes from Jamaica to the capital region, incorporating music, food, drinks, and laughter.
In 2023, Nicola passed away suddenly, as well as two close friends that were all suppose to be a part of that dream. After a year of emotional turmoil, heart break, and hard work, Marlon continues to carry on that dream. He opens, with the memory of his fiancé.
Marlon, migrated to the US and became a citizen 2013. He initially worked in the food and restaurant industry when he moved to the capital district but now seeks to incorporate his culinary talents and Caribbean style in the City of Albany. The Cafe offers a fresh new vibe and creates that Island feeling. You will embrace island sounds while enjoying authentic savory Jamaican as well as American dishes from breakfast to dinner.
Marlon understands that food, music, and celebrations help to bring the community together. His vision is to not only have the community embrace the culture while dining but to make the cafe a staple in the community, to participate in community ventures, and for all to become part of One Dream.
